Datesfrom November 26 to December 3 Location 3487 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, Montreal Weekdays from 12:30 pm and from 10:30 am on weekends Free Admission The 2026 Off-Bach unveils its program Imagine walking through a door in the middle of the week and finding yourself face-to-face with a harpsichord. Or arriving on a Saturday morning, having a cup of coffee, and meeting a French organist who tells you how Bach dreamed of Venice all the way from Leipzig. That’s exactly what Off-Bach offers. For eight days, nineteen events open their doors to you, with no tickets, no formalities, just the music and you. David Dias Da Silva kicks off the festivities on the clarinet on November 26, followed by Christophe Gauthier on the harpsichord. The weekend of November 28 and 29 is the beating heart of the week: organist Benjamin Alard takes you “from Leipzig to Venice” over coffee and a croissant, and Dr. Michael Maul, one of the world’s leading Bach scholars, shares what his research has revealed. Two rare opportunities to meet those who bring this music to life every day. And here, Bach never plays it safe. He takes on the jazz piano under Ariane Racicot’s fingers, lets himself be tempted by the marimba and cello of the Stick&Bow duo, and returns to his original string instruments with Marie Nadeau-Tremblay, Tristan Best, and Kerry Bursey on baroque violin, viola da gamba, and lute. The harpsichord returns with Loïc Lapatrie, the piano with Dane Ko and Tristan Longval-Gagné, and the cello with Noémie Raymond and Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy. As a central theme, Luc Beauséjour marks his return with five mini-lectures to help you understand before you listen: the Goldberg Variations, The Art of Fugue, improvisation, Bach in Four Cities, and Bach, a European Pioneer. Dr. Gilles Commeau, meanwhile, explores what science has to say about music, health, and the brain. You’ll leave with a whole new appreciation for music. Eight days, nineteen entry points, no reason to hesitate. Come for a concert, stay for the week. Discover the full program today.
